Opal Foundation & AMREF Charity Dinner

On 6th October 2011, at the Opal Foundation Charity Dinner, a cheque for £40,000 was presented to AMREF by Stuart Wall.

The dinner itself was a resounding success and raised over £20,000.

Complete with an African menu and backed by lovely ladies in African dress from CARISMA and background music from Glen Sharp, the evening was beautifully hosted by Paul Sleem.

The dinner was complimented by South African wines linked to the menu by a great presentation from Murray and rounded off with an interesting and pithy keynote speech from Sir Howard Bernstein.

Fundraising was a lot of fun with ‘Heads and Tails’ kicking off the action and raising £1200.

An innovative table pledge event, with guests buying model showers, baths and WCs, raised a further £9000.  The dinner itself is expected to contribute £6000 thanks to the generosity of The Place who provided dinner at cost and donated half of all room income.

Jonathan Hudson of ASK4 made a surprise donation of £3000 and the Opal Raffle is expected to contribute around £1,000 to the event.

Thank you to Opal Staff, Residents and Partners for such an amazing fundraising effort!
