World Choir Games

Worl Choir Games LogoThe two best performing choirs selected at the Royal Albert Hall will be rewarded with the fantastic opportunity to meet choirs from all over the world at the largest event of its kind, the World Choir Games 2008.

To be held this year in Graz, Austria, the funding from the Opal Foundation will include all accommodation, travel and entrance costs for the two choirs.  The last World Choir Games, in China, attracted 400 choirs from 80 countries - and this year's event is set to be even bigger.

Graz, capital city of the province of Styria, is at the crossroads between different European cultures from the east and west, north and south. The unique old city centre is one of UNESCO’s world cultural heritage sites.  In 2003 Graz was the spectacular cultural capital of Europe.

Whilst the Opal Foundation will be supporting and closely following the progress of the two choirs at Graz and beyond, it looks to leave a legacy of music within all nine participating schools.  We believe this once in a lifetime experience will create a huge sense of achievement and a lasting memory for all the children and their school communities.
