The Magic of Music

The Opal Choir Project 2007 – 2008

After twelve months of planning and hard work The Opal Choir project finally reached the competition stage at The Royal Albert Hall.  All the Choirs, teachers and choir masters worked incredible hard to get to the standard they achieved in their performance at The Royal Albert Hall on 16th April, 2008.

This was an experience that we will never forget and the volunteers who worked back stage still talk about it today.

The two winners Syned  Community School, Wallsall, Birmingham and All Saints Catholic School, Huddersfield, went on to perform with approximately 800 other choirs from around 80 different countries from all over the world.  The standard was incredible high, this challenge did not stop our choirs from making the most of the whole experience and in fact All Saints Choir won Bronze in their category, which was an amazing feat, considering where they had come from, the previous year.

This project was not just about the achievement of all the children involved, it was about the journey to get there.  Each and every child involved took every step of that journey seriously and committed themselves to this incredible achievement.

We were truly inspired by some of the stories of the journey that these children made.

The project not only positively affected the 300 children who took part, but we also inspired our audience and we  would like to thank those organisations who made the effort to support the project by attending The Royal Albert Hall, organisations like Barnardos, their feedback following the performance was truly humbling.

This project was the brainchild of Stuart Wall the charities founder and the overall success of the project could not have been predicted.

Many, Many grateful thanks for all those who participated supported and followed our project.  This has given us the inspiration to now put our energy into our new project, Opal Africa and hope that you will support this new venture.
