City of Leeds High School, and Primrose High School, Leeds

LeedsWith support from the Opal Foundation, the City of Leeds High School and Primrose High School - part of the Central Leeds Learning Foundation - formed their choir, "Enchanté".

The children embrace all cultures and nationalities, and express their varied heritage through their music.  Their current repertoire includes an African sequence, comprising of Siyahamba, Thula Baba and Malaika as well as more traditional choices, comprising of Duke Ellington’s It Don’t Mean a Thing, Paul McCartney’s Pipes of Peace and Roger Nicholls' We’ve Only Just Begun.

Leeds

The choir was supported by Bridget Mawtus, Head of Music at the City of Leeds, along with Central Leeds Learning Foundation colleagues Kathryn Downs and Carrie-Ann Merifield.  The choir was excited to receive expert tutelage via the Access and Outreach department at Leeds College of Music, and esteemed composer and Choral Director Graham Coatman - who passed on his expertise to the group.

The choir had already performed at the "Light Up a Life" event, which supports good causes such as St. Gemma's Hospice and the Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice - already making a positive impact on the Leeds community.
